What is a Giclee Print?

Giclee is a French term meaning “to spray”, referring to how an inkjet printer works and how giclee prints are usually produced. These large-format inkjet printers use small spraying devices that can both match colour and apply ink precisely. When this process is paired with high-quality inks and quality museum-grade paper, the result is a beautiful print. Blacks come out looking like carbon – gorgeous.

Raising Money to Help Te Tarawhiti

https://www.manaakimatakaoa.com/

The Manaaki Matakāoa flood appeal was launched immediately following Cyclone Gabrielle that hit New Zealand Feb 6, 2023 – Thu, Feb 16, 2023, devastating remote communities in the East Cape of Aotearoa New Zealand. We know this will happen with more frequency as a result of climate change. This entire community has the challenge and opportunity in front of them to make changes to protect their environment and their people now and for the future:  their rivers, mountains, coastline…their ancestral landscape.

“The fundraising aimed to provide vital power and communications resources to the impacted communities of Matakāoa, Tokomaru, Te Puia and Waipiro Bay. The power and communications devices are being provided within a strategy known as the “Kōkiri” model, which is co-developed with the communities and also draws from overseas communications strategies, utilised in natural disaster and conflict scenarios. The aim to strengthen communications and power access for over 30 “cluster communities” of East Cape households who are regularly isolated together by severe weather events.”

While the initial fundraising target has been met, the other ongoing activities of this group to strengthen communications, connectedness, and well-being of these isolated communities in a part of the country that is very close to my heart, is something I want to support at this time.
